About the title

Bohemia Interactive invites the player to once again take part in a fictional armed conflict based on real international problems of the modern world. ArmA 2 offers a new approach to campaign presentation. The game takes place during the civil war unfolding on the territory of the post-Soviet fictional state called Black Russia. Constant clashes between supporters of Western democracy, local authorities and the communist movement Red Star ended with the retreat of the Black Russian Defense Forces. Under the leadership of a military leader nicknamed Shark, Red Star captured most of Northern territory, establishing its own power in the region. And now it’s resuming hostilities with the aim of seizing the western part of the country.

The prime minister appealed to his Western partners for help in establishing peace in the region. By decision of the Alliance, NATO is alerting its Rapid Reaction Force in the Eurasian region to prevent further civilian casualties in the conflict area. At this point, the player is invited to take on the role of a 33-year-old sergeant, Mat Cooper, who will have to go through a series of challenging tasks and trials to play his own part in these gripping events.

There are now four parties in the campaign, each with its own interests in the region. Missions in ArmA 2 have become even longer and more interesting. The very process of completing assignments is full of sudden plot twists and rapid developments. The complexity of future tasks depends on the current actions of the player,. Several endings are available not only for the entire plot, but almost for every mission. And if you complete additional tasks, various bonuses in the form of support means may be waiting for you in the future. That stimulates you to grabbing every opportunity of showing yourself rather than just sticking with the main storyline.

Just like before, there is a wide arsenal of realistic guns and grenades waiting for you. Moving through land is faster on tanks and BTRs. And you can also try your hand at piloting controlling a helicopter that can easily go down if you do something wrong. The degree of plausibility is just as high as in the original version. So don’t hope for easy outcomes! Prepare to work hard and use your skills to the maximum if you want to complete all the missions in ArmA 2!
